About Claude Code
What is Claude Code?
Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic AI tool. It works directly with the files and tools on your computer: it reads documents and spreadsheets, writes and runs small programs, and saves the results, asking permission before it acts. You use it in plain English.
Do I need to know how to code to learn Claude Code?
No. You describe what you want in plain English and Claude Code does the technical work. Most leaders I coach have never written code. Knowing what a file, folder, and spreadsheet are is enough to start.
What's the difference between Claude and Claude Code?
The Claude chat app answers questions about text you paste into a conversation. Claude Code works directly with your files and folders, runs multi-step tasks, and saves its output, so it can build reusable workflows such as a weekly brief, a dashboard, or an automated report.
Is Claude Code only for software engineers?
No. Anthropic's own legal, growth marketing, and design teams use Claude Code to automate repetitive work and build tools that once needed an engineer. Executives, directors, and managers use it for briefings, reporting, analysis, and document review.
Do you also coach ChatGPT and OpenAI Codex?
Yes. Claude Code is my default for leaders because it works so well with your own files, but I also coach ChatGPT and OpenAI Codex. If your organization has standardized on OpenAI or licensed ChatGPT Enterprise, we use those tools. The skills transfer: clear instructions, real files, checked output, and sensitive data kept out.
Claude Code vs. OpenAI Codex: which should I learn?
Both are AI agents that can work with files, write code, and run multi-step tasks. Claude Code comes from Anthropic; Codex comes from OpenAI and is available with several paid ChatGPT plans. Learn the one your organization already approves and pays for. If you have a free choice, I usually start leaders on Claude Code for document-heavy work.
What does Claude Code itself cost?
Claude Code is available on paid Claude plans that include it and through Anthropic's API. Prices change, so check Anthropic's pricing page. On your free 20-minute call we pick the right plan for how you'll use it, before you spend anything.
About 1:1 coaching
What is 1:1 Claude Code coaching?
It is a private 60-minute Google Meet session where you learn Claude Code on your own work with a coach beside you. Manish Singh, a federal Data Science TPM who has trained 24+ leaders, sets it up with you, then you build something real together. A session is $250. A 3-session pack is $675.
What happens in a coaching session?
We screen share on Google Meet. We confirm what data you're allowed to use, set up Claude Code, point it at a safe copy of your files, and build one workflow end to end. You drive and I coach, so the skills stay with you.
What will I build in my first session?
Usually the recurring task that costs you the most time: a weekly leadership brief, a status report, a KPI dashboard from exports, or a vendor comparison. We decide on the free call so the session starts with your real material.
Is this coaching or training?
Both. Training builds the skill: how Claude Code works, how to prompt it, and how to stay inside your data rules. Coaching applies it to your real work with feedback in the moment. Every session does both, which is why people use it the next day.
Do I get a recording and notes?
Yes. You get the session recording and a written recap within 24 hours, including the prompts and files we created. 3-session pack clients also get Slack support between sessions.
What if the session isn't useful?
Every session has a 15-minute satisfaction guarantee. If it isn't useful in the first 15 minutes, we stop and you get a full refund.
Pricing and payment
How much does 1:1 Claude Code coaching cost?
A single 60-minute session is $250. A 3-session pack is $675 ($225 per session), valid for 90 days, with Slack support between sessions. The 20-minute discovery call is free.
Can my employer pay for Claude Code coaching?
Yes. I invoice through Mango Consulting LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Many clients use training, professional development, or innovation budgets.
Do you offer Claude Code training for teams?
Sessions are 1:1 by design. For a private session for two or more people, or an organization-wide rollout, request a custom quote and I'll scope it around your team's work.
Do nonprofits get special terms?
Yes. 501(c)(3) organizations get grant-eligible documentation that frames sessions as capacity building, plus net-30 invoicing. The per-session price is the same.
Security and privacy
Is it safe to use Claude Code with company data?
It can be, with the right setup. We start with your organization's AI policy and your Claude plan, decide what data is allowed, and use a safe copy of files. Claude's business plans (Team and Enterprise) are covered by commercial terms that exclude training on your data by default. Personal and confidential data stays out unless your policy allows it.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. I sign standard NDAs on request before a session. Sessions are private 1:1 calls, never recorded for anyone but you.
Can federal employees take these sessions?
Yes. I'm a current federal Data Science TPM, so we work inside federal rules: approved tools, non-sensitive or sample data, and your agency's AI policy. Many managers use training budgets, invoiced through an SDVOSB.
Can healthcare teams use Claude Code safely?
Yes, with care. Patient data needs HIPAA-aware tooling and the right agreements. I'm HIPAA certified and run a dedicated healthcare track for clinicians, clinics, and health nonprofits.
Choosing a coach
How do I choose a Claude Code coach?
Check five things: who actually teaches, whether sessions use your real work, whether the coach understands your role and compliance context, the price per hour of live time, and what support you get afterward. My comparison of eight options covers all five.
How does Manish Singh compare to Claude Camp?
Both offer live 1:1 Claude Code coaching that is recorded for you. Claude Camp is taught by a senior software engineer on Zoom at $399 per hour, with a $199 first hour for new clients, and also runs team training. Manish Singh focuses on executives, directors, and managers, including regulated and public-sector work, at $250 per hour or $225 per hour in a 3-pack, with a 15-minute satisfaction guarantee.
Is a MentorCruise Claude Code mentor a good option?
It can be. MentorCruise lists dozens of Claude Code coaches on monthly plans of roughly $150 to $300 with calls and chat, plus a free trial. Quality varies by mentor, so you do the vetting. It suits ongoing, lighter-touch mentoring more than intensive work on leadership tasks.
Are free Claude Code courses enough?
For self-starters, they're a great first step. Anthropic Academy offers free courses such as Claude Code 101. What a course can't do is look at your files, catch your mistakes, or adapt to your role. Many people take a free course first, then book coaching to apply it.
Where are you based? Do you coach in New Jersey and New York City?
I'm based in New Jersey. All sessions run remotely on Google Meet, so I coach leaders across the United States, including New Jersey, Bergen County, and New York City.
